Leader of The Pack
Once again, it is time for my college football picks for conference winners!
First, the BCS automatic qualifiers.
ACC- Tough choice. My gut says Miami (FL), but my head says, who can beat Virginia Tech? So, VT
Big 12- Nebraska wants to show that theyre no joke before they leave for the Big Ten. But Texas wins this conference again
Big East- UCONN just barely beats out Cincinatti
Big Ten- Once again, there will be a tie! and no, Ohio State will not be in it! Im calling Wisconsin/Penn State
Pac 10- This is possibly the hardest. 4 of the best quarterbacks in college football. Luck, Locker, Barkley and Folles. But i say Stanford wins. yes, even without powerhouse Toby Gerhart
SEC- Vanderbilt! kidding. The winner of the sec will be Alabama
Now, for the other conferences
Conference USA- I am saqd to say, i dont know much about this conference! But, I do know enough to know Houston is the class of this conference! Cougs it is
MAC- Its hard to go against Central Michigan, but without LeFevour, my vote is going to the up and coming Temple Owls
Mountain West- TCU or BYU, god. BYU
WAC- THE BIG BLUE FIELD (boise state)
Independents- there is no winner, but if there was, easily Notre Dame
Sun Belt- TROY TROJANS! possibly, in my mind, the easiest pick ive made so far
Now. Time to predict National Champion!
Virginia Tech 21 Wisconsin 10. Yes, this hurts me to say.
Hope you enjoy. If you feel differently, let me know!

The End of the World
And I feel fine, but I'm not so sure about sports
Are sports getting ruined these days? Many people seem to think so.
I LOVE SPORTS!, but im not going to lie, all this garbage is leading to my boredom.
Lets break this down, sport by sport
College Football: It seems like these days, every team is being investigated. The whole Bush scandal at USC angered me. Now, the entire SEC basically? seriously? I completely agree with Nick Saban. These kids need to stay away from agents. Any agent caught contacting an underclassmen should be suspended for a minimum 2 years. Florida, South Carolina, Alabama are all caught in this weird web. Also, Vanderbilt has lost their head coach. He resigned, which came as a shock to many, or at least to me.
Not to mention, all of this confusion about "super-conferences." They already have them, theyre called BCS schools. Speaking of the BCS, this needs to change. Top 16 teams in a playoff. Its not fair? Oh, well, it works for the 1AA, Div 2, and Div 3. Sell all games on tv. thats where the money should come from, not these big shot corporate sponsors. Because Chick-Fil-A wants advertisement, you have to screw Boise State, TCU, Utah, etc. Thats not right
NFL: First issue: safety. With the iminant expansion of the NFL season, safey becomes a HUGE issue. Fans however seem to be for this. I love football, and i want to see more and more of it. But im also a smart fan. I, like everyone, have favorite players. By expanding the regular season, theyre shortening the careers of some "workhorse" players.
Example: Stephen Jackson, who makes a living running people over. Now think, after 8 seasons, he wil have played the equivalency of 9 FULL seasons. Thats cutting his career short. And then what about playoff teams. Players like Jason Witten, Joseph Addai, and Lawrence Maroney who will more than likely be playing 18 and then another 1 to 4 games after that. Can these people really take that much abuse, and sustain a great career. Probably yes, but its lot less likely.
Next issue: LA does NOT need a team, SHUT UP
Third issue: Contracts. Why have only 3 first round draft picks signed one? Because, players are greedy. People like Tim Tebow, a mediocre quarterback at best, is holding out for more money. Im going to LOVE seeing some Defensive End rip him apart. Follw suit of Dez Bryant, who i think was the most naturally talented player in the draft. To secure his spot at camp, and on the team, he took a "modest" contract. Im sick of players, playing for money. Look at Brett Favre, he plays on pure emotion and love of football.
Last issue: Rodger Goodell says that the NFL is "all about the fans." If that is true, why the hell is there even the thought of no NFL next year. Get it done, or you will lose so much money.
NBA: What is this thing about a "big three?" Yes, you need "superstars," but last I knew, there were 5 guys. Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. What about Perkins, Rondo, Davis, Scalabrine. that sounds like a big 7 to me. Now Dwayne Wade, Lebron james, and Chris Bosh. Well, what about the others in Miami. And now, my favorite, Chris Paul, Carmello Anthony, and Amare Stoudemire? Yeah, three great players. But, how cohesive are they? What kind of help are they getting without Harrington, or Lee. They have Toney Douglas. Who is he? This is, if it even happens.
MLB: Steroids. Need I say more?
NHL: 17 year contracts? Seriously?
Also, Sydney Crosby is a professional athlete. Dont ge pissed at him because he won the gold medal game against the US. How many people would be this pissed if Dirk Nowitski hit a game winning shot against US Basketball for Germany? Not even close. so, leave him alone.
If you have any more issues, i would love to hear them.
Feel free to comment. Thank you

Changes
Im looking for changes... in NO ways
Hello everybody
today im going to talk about sports. A good non controversial topic for my first post in a few months. Sorry!
my first topic. Baseball
According to Yahoo! Sports Florida Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez is basically crying, because he is upset his team lost to the San Francisco Giants. The reason he is upset, isnt that they lost, but because of the opposing pitchers (Brian Wilson) shoes.
The already more than capable pitcher was accused of having shoes too flashy. The "creamcile" orange NIKEs were blamed for the players and even the managers incompetance. Not only is this claim ridiculous, but proven wrong. The GREAT Dan Uggla hit a ninth inning homerun with two outs.
Now, Im not a great journalist, nor even an amateur one. but i feel Yahoo! did a great job on this article. Look at the pictures and judge for yourself. Now, Florida, there are 162 games in a season, are you going to look at this loss as a reason you didnt make the playoffs. I dont think so. Look at the other 90.
Topic number 2
Terrible Owens.
We all know that he is Uber talented, and can be a great addition to any wide receiving corp. That is if he would SHUT UP. Seriously. He had problems with Jason Witten, and Patrick Crayton (2 fairly low key personalities) in Dallas. If he had problems with them, imagine when hes with Antonio Bryant (who threw a towel in Bill Parcells' face) and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson (who had some flashy shoes of his own).
However, when he was in a really bad situation in Buffalo, he kept quiet. Which is odd, because he left San Francisco, when they were okay, he left the Eagles on their Super Bowl quest, and a very talent laden Dallas Cowboys, all on bad terms. Its mind boggling.
I dont think it will work out.
Topic 3
The Pac-10 or 12 or 16 or whatever they are
Adding Utah was Brilliant. I applaud that. But Colorado? Seriously? What happened to Boise State, who could very possibly be, the BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY! What about a very capable Fresno State? Why take Colorado? Were you trying to "rescue them?" they have just as bad of a shot to win in the PAC- Whatever, than the Big 12.
Are the Big Ten and the Big 12 going to change names now? And the Big Ten, Why take Nebraska? Central Michigan should have been the one to be brought up. And the Big 12. If you want to retain your dominance, grab the following teams: Boise State, Colorado State, Texas Christian University, Idaho, Southern Miss/Troy, and Southern Methodist University. Every conference needs a few University of Central Floridas, or Iowa States, or Vanderbilts. Grab those teams while theyre still Up-and-coming. Grab 6 teams, and become a 16 team super conference.
And for other teams, Buffalo, Memphis, Navy, etc, the ACC should come knocking soon, if theyre smart.
Leave some comments, feel free to argue, its what im doing this for.
thank you
Hello everybody
today im going to talk about sports.

When Worlds Collide
now this is what its like when worlds collide
Our secretary of state, one Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) has issued a "warning" to North Korea. Recently, a North Korean submarine purposely sank a South Korean War Ship. this happened, literally, weeks ago, and it was just announced either today or yesterday, that she thinks what they did was bad.
DUH
are they going to get the same kind of punishment they got when it happened a few years ago. Does Hillary really mean this, or is she going to have former President Bill Clinton do it, like he had to handle the hostage crisis, for which he should have won the nobel prize, not that useless bastard Obama.
is it just me, or should somebody have said something about how wrong this is, i dont know, as soon as they knew it was the N. Koreans. it would make sense to me that when an act of war goes down, that we should try and prevent it.
im not saying this calls for military action from us...... yet. but for some time now, N. Korea has been a huge thorn in the side of everybody, and eventually with their production of nuclear arms, pose a real threat to ending humanity.
im sorry, but the way this world is right now, i dont know if planning for a long term future is the right idea. i mean, ill still get married, and have kids, but i mean, im not going to have like one major goal, like, working on a huge project, or a lifetime project. i just see no point. so, i will just do my job, love my wife and kids, and enjoy my time alive
thank you so much for reading
believe me, there will be more about this coming soon

For Whom The Bell Tolls
Time marches on
especially when its finals time almost, and your fire alarm goes off 3 times and you spend a total of about AN HOUR outside due to fire alarms. that was valuable time that i could have used to work on my 5 page paper due on tuesday. luckily enough for me, im pretty much done. anyways, i was sitting in my room with Christine, just out of the shower, and boom, it goes off. and even worse, my roommate Mike was IN the shower at the time it was going off.
im not saying i hate fire alarms, but i loathe them. especially when they fuck up and go off 3 times, technically four because it went off while we were waiting for confirmation to go in. i know they are necessary, and when there really is a fire, ill be happy when one saves my life. no NOT A FURBY
was it really necessary for the alarm to go off, absolutely not, was it necessary for them to fix it, absolutely. i wonder what it was that caused it., my guess, Chartwells dining.
which brings me to that shit
Chartwells is possibly the worst food ive ever had. i never thought id say this, but it usually makes me miss high school lunch. Occasionally, its not so bad. like tonight for instance, they had chicken parm and meatballs. occasionally, they have nachos, which are pretty good. but their pizza is horrible, their vegetables taste like dirt, and their pasta is bland.
im not saying i could do better, but i dont claim to be a food preparation professional.. i do however make a damn good pizza and great tacos.
i know there are people out there who know what im talking about
good night errbuddeh

Days Go By
Dirty Vegas, what happened to you
anyways, days do go by, and fast. it seems just yesterday it was mid January, and i was getting ready to begin semester 2 of sophomore year. I was so eager to get back into the swing of history. but now i look back and feel like ive been back for a week or two.
Junior year is right around the corner, and i guarantee im not the only one who feels like were going too quick. in a week, i will be finishing my sophomore year. that means i am going to be halfway done with college. this is unreal.
i guess i have grad school to look forward to. but, Gettysburg can wait.
One thing im looking forward to is in my senior year, the University at Albany football team will break out of the FCS (formerly Div 1AA) ranks and go to Ohio to play the new-found powerhouse University of Cincinatti.
This is major for a small ass SUNY school. the Bearcats play at Nippert Stadium which has a capacity of 35,097 people. this is a huge difference from University Field's 10,000 (but averages like maybe 1500 per game)
Personally, i would have schedueled a game against our sister University at Buffalo which has an Up-and-coming program. Not to mention the jump to 1A before playing any real 1AA teams (Villanova, Richmond, James Madison, Appalachian State, Montana, etc) is a bit far fetched.
but enough about sports.
I feel like a freshmen still, well, not so much financially, after 37,000 dollars being paid so far.
I will more than likely stay in the Albany area after graduating from Gettysburg College.
anyways, if you feel like i do, or even disagree, please comment, or ask questions. thank you,
have a great night.

BOMB!
The night is a bomb blast, the night is on fire
these words spoken by Gavin Rosdale and the other fine musicians in the band Bush.
Earlier this week, i heard some startling news. By the year 2015, the nation of Iran has the knowledge and power to create an ICBM (or Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile) that has the capability of reaching the United States. This technology will be available for them to use (which we all know they will) by 2015.
What does this mean for America?
it can mean 2 things.
Either were FUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!, or we have to do something. and by we i mean not only Obama and the States, but Brown, the PM of England, and anybody else who feels that freedom is sacred. (ie France, Germany, etc)
obviously talking to them (the terrorists that control Iran) is not enough. Israel can no longer be the only ones to care about the fate of the World. we can not rely on the hope that they wont use it, because we all know Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the leader of Iran is a fucking PSYCHO!
During the election for a new President of Iran, Ahmadinejad was given a tight race by challenger Mir-Hossein Mousavi. there was a huge controversy over the results of the election. Many believe that the results were falsified in favor of Ahmadinejad. Mousavi's loss meant more years of threat and terror for the US and our allies.
As of right now, this is all i know, if anybody knows more, please feel free to tell me, or if anything in here is false, again, tell me.
thank you

The Pot
Who am i to wave my finger, a concerned citizen. thats who. numerous times today i was told to have a happy 4:20.
my first comment, how can the day be happy, if i need to poison myself with a toxin to feel good about the day. today is not a holiday, its another reason for retards to smoke pot. im not badmouthing everybody who smokes weed. while i am against it, there are some people who partake in activities that are productive members of society.
there is a joke that tomorrow is national drug test day. im sad this is a joke. honestly, i think that there should be harsher punishments for people caught using pot.
second comment, does anybody actually know the meaning of 4:20. i know i dont. my thought is that people now a days just blindly follow trends. until college i was unaware how many people smoke pot. now that im here, i wonder why all these people are smoking it. this does not mean im interested in trying it, im just befuddled by the fact that people need a chemical to make them happy.
Am i aware that all of my favorite musicians use drugs, same with authors, actors, etc. i am. do i condone it, absolutely not.
now, about medical marijuana, i am against this. this is just a reason for people to toke it up. are you going to tell me that there is no other medicine that will reduce if not remove the pain or cause. as a former biology major, i can confidently say that i trust the AMA to give me medicine, that isnt thc based.
i dont know if people know this, but thc, the chemical found in marijuana is a form of acid. thats right. similar to LSD. it slows reactions. it is claimed that marijuana is non addictive. i know people who habitually need to get a fix of the ganja. i dont know about you, but i call that addiction. people say that they are better drivers when they are high, must be shitty drivers to begin with.
i can not find one logical excuse for why marijuana, or any other drug for that matter should be legalized, or even decriminalized. feel free to try and prove me wrong. until then, have a good night.

A Day to Remember
11 years ago today, Dylan Klebold, and Eric Harris, 2 troubled teens woke up and embarked on a mission. their mission, to spread fear and hatred. upon entering Columbine High School that day, they knew there was no turning back. armed with guns, on this day, Hitlers Birthday, and a holiday to stupid stoners everywhere, they decided to open fire on the school students, and faculty. 13 lives were taken on that day.
for the families of : Cassie Bernall, Steve Curnow, Corey DePooter, Kelly Fleming, Matt Kechter, Daniel Mauser, Daniel Rohrbough, Rachel Scott, Isiah Shoels, John Tomlin, Lauren Townsend, Kyle Velazquez, and Dave Sanders, life will never be the same. we also cannot forget, the shooters Klebold and Harris, turned the gun on themselves, and took their own lives. for everybody affected in this tragedy, i ask for a moment of silence.
on this day, i ask that you remember this event, and keep in mind these mournful families, and not to take your family or life for granted
